3 exciting product innovations announced at Secured.21
We marked the start of Secured.21, the first global virtual conference hosted by Barracuda for our customers, with three exciting product announcements.
Secured.21, happening this week September 14 to 16, is an informative event covering a wide range of topics including security threats and trends, hands-on technical sessions, new product announcements, and the latest innovations in email protection, application and cloud security, network security, and data protection.
The trio of announcements cover innovations in network security, email security, and data protection:
- Barracuda launches cloud-native security capabilities to accelerate Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) deployments
- Barracuda expands incident response capabilities with automated workflows and public APIs
- Barracuda introduces data classification capabilities to help customers find sensitive data and malware
We also launched a new research report titled The state of network security in 2021, which looks at cloud adoption, working from home, security concerns, and a variety of issues and challenges related to cybersecurity risks.
Let’s take a closer look at the three product announcements.
Barracuda’s cloud-native SASE platform
What’s new:
The platform brings together Secure SD-WAN, Firewall-as-a-Service, Zero Trust Network Access, and Secure Web Gateway technology from Barracuda to achieve SASE convergence. The cloud-native SASE platform includes the releases of Barracuda CloudGen WAN and Barracuda CloudGen Firewall, which add several security and network capabilities:
- Enables security services on customers’ cloud hubs, in addition to being able to run them directly on their site devices.
- Dramatically improves application performance with dynamic Forward Error Correction (FEC), extending SD-WAN benefits to branches with single ISP connectivity.
- Provides flexible secure remote access capabilities, minimizing latency with point-to-cloud connectivity.
- Streamlines OT/IoT deployments by enabling scalable connectivity and out-of-the-box security, with Barracuda Secure Connector now able to network directly with CloudGen Firewall or cloud hub.
In addition, as part of the platform, we are integrating our ZTNA product, Barracuda CloudGen Access, with our cloud secure web gateway product, Barracuda Content Shield. The integration of CloudGen Access and Content Shield features common identity, client, and installation.
How it helps customers:
Our new cloud-native SASE platform enables businesses to control access to data from any device, anytime, anywhere.
What people are saying:
“The SASE platform from Barracuda provides value to businesses that have cloud-first priorities to move network infrastructure, routing, security, and remote access to the public cloud,” said Stefan Depping, Managing Director, digit solutions GmbH. “We’re looking forward to working with Barracuda and our mutual customers on how we can best support them on their SASE journey.”

Expanded incident response capabilities
What’s new:
Customers can now use public-facing APIs to integrate Barracuda Incident Response with their current SOAR/SIEM/XDR investment. With new automated workflows for the solution, administrators can build a playbook that meets their specific needs for individual use cases.
- With expanded public-facing APIs, Barracuda incident response data can be leveraged by customers using their current SOAR/SIEM/XDR solution.
- New automated workflows let customers easily create custom workflows to further automate their response across a variety of security solutions.
- Customers can save time and eliminate duplicate efforts by creating workflows that automatically execute based on defined triggers and conditions.
How it helps customers:
Our expanded incident response capabilities help customers proactively identify threats and take quick and effective action to remediate them.
What people are saying:
“We asked Barracuda for a simplified way to run incident response playbooks- we are so excited that they’ve delivered. It’s a testament to how Barracuda listens and works with customers to help us solve the issues we are facing with regards to protecting our business information and our people’s sensitive data,” said Brian Morris, Gray Television.
“With threats mounting and talent pools short, customers need partners in security that understand not every organization will want to respond to email incidents the same way. We’re really looking forward to using incident response automated workflows from Barracuda, so we can build a playbook that meets our specific needs for individual use cases,” said Nathan Dube, Viant Medical.

Barracuda Data Inspector
What’s new:
With Barracuda Data Inspector, customers can easily scan OneDrive and SharePoint to identify sensitive data and then decide what needs to be done with that data in terms of compliance requirements and other needs. Powerful data classification capabilities help customers identify types of data such as Personal Identifiable Information (PII), user credentials, credit card information, and more.
Highlights include:
- Create data classifiers; identify specific information types, such as employee or student IDs, project codenames, and other proprietary information
- Find out if data has been shared internally or externally
- Identify malware, viruses, and ransomware stored and get rid of it at the source
- Receive automated notifications and redacted previews of classified data
- Alert users when they attempt to store data that might be considered sensitive
How it helps customers:
Barracuda Data Inspector helps customers automatically scan OneDrive for Business and SharePoint data for sensitive information and malicious files. Customers using Barracuda Data Inspector can identify whether data has been shared internally or externally, and where it’s stored to help them make decisions on how to act on it.
