[Webinar] AI and cybersecurity: the good, the bad, and the unknown
In case you don’t remember the plot of Avengers: Age of Ultron, it’s about an AI entity that is very powerful and very evil, and it looks like it’s going to achieve its evil goals but is finally defeated by a newly spawned AI entity named Vision, who is on the side of good.
Real life, as usual, is considerably less exciting than a Marvel superhero movie. At least, there are fewer fight scenes. But for today’s cybersecurity professionals, there are some parallels to that storyline, and it’s important to understand them.
Evil AI on the rise
When ChatGPT was released to the public, cybercriminal gangs were quick to see generative AI’s potential to help them grow their streams of ill-gotten revenue. They harnessed it to boost both the volume and effectiveness of their phishing, ransomware, and other attacks.
Astonishingly, the number of cyberattacks increased by 1,200% in the two years since generative AI became easily available, and the cost to organizations of all types is also growing rapidly.
A new hope
I know, I know. I’m mixing references to unrelated fictional universes. So sue me.
The point is that, just as cyber crooks have embraced AI, so have the forces fighting heroically on the side of good — i.e., cybersecurity researchers and developers (and marketing writers, of course).
Barracuda, along with the rest of the cybersecurity industry, has been hard at work leveraging AI and machine learning to create new, more powerful capabilities for detecting, blocking, and responding to the most sophisticated, AI-enhanced cyber threats.
What CISOs need to know
If you’re a CISO, it’s going to be critical for you to understand both the threat and the promise of AI in the context of cybersecurity. Fortunately, a new webinar called “AI vs. AI: How hackers and CISOs are both leveraging AI” is the perfect starting point for anyone wanting to gain that understanding. You can register for the webinar here.
At the webinar, Barracuda email security experts Nishant Taneja and Prebh Dev Singh will provide a deep dive into exactly how AI is transforming both the threat landscape and the panoply of tools and strategies available to IT security pros responsible for keeping their organizations safe.
New e-book
In addition, they’ll also present an overview of the content of a new e-book published by Barracuda: “Securing tomorrow: A CISO’s guide to the role of AI in cybersecurity.”
Finally, webinar attendees will get a comprehensive understanding of the specific AI-powered features and capabilities that are making Barracuda Email Protection more powerful and effective than ever before.
In the infinity war against cybercrime, don’t let it come down to endgame. Instead, be a guardian of the galaxy, fighting to keep the dark world at bay. Attend this webinar and discover how to put the marvels of AI to work protecting your IT infrastructure.
